Gloucester Maritime Project Part of EPA Deal

Gloucester Marine Railways is partnering with Maritime Gloucester and Ocean Alliance in a unique education and community outreach program as part of its settlement with the EPA over alleged Clean Water Act violations at its Rocky Neck site, according to an article on GloucesterTimes.com.

As part of the settlement, Maritime Gloucester will develop an exhibit — financed by Gloucester Marine Railways — detailing the invention and history of nautical anti-fouling coatings developed in Gloucester, Massachusetts, including the role of those coatings in expanding maritime commerce worldwide and the unintended negative impact of those heavy-metal coatings on the aquatic environment.
