Grant Will Grow Maine’s Sea Algae Industry

Bangor Daily News reports that the Maine Technology Institute, a state-funded nonprofit that supports technological ventures, announced last month that it is contributing $50,000 to help develop the state’s algae industry. This includes seaweed companies that harvest kelp, rockweed, dulse and Irish moss, as well as firms that use algae in the pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, food product and biofuels industries.
