Green Crabs Could be Effective as Lobster Bait

A recent article on Working Waterfront discusses the potential for using invasive green grabs as bait for lobster traps.

In Nova Scotia, anecdotal evidence seems to show that the green crabs, which compete with lobsters and prey on shellfish and eelgrass, have show success as lobster bait. With herring at $1.30/lb. and green crabs at $0.83/lb., the alternative bait is also cost-effective.
