Hampton Harbor Pier Being Overhauled
June 6, 2013
Seacoast Online: Ground has been broken on the project to overhaul the state pier in Hampton Harbor [New Hampshire], the deteriorating condition of which has been magnified since a local fisherman filed a lawsuit claiming more than $100,000 in damages resulted from the pier’s negligently maintained state.
State Senator Nancy Stiles secured $1.5 million for the pier work on February 22, about a month before David Goethel submitted a lawsuit regarding a 2010 fall from the pier. Goethel suffered fractures to his skull, leg and ankle when he was using the pier’s hydraulic hoist system to lift boxes of fish from his boat to the dock above, according to the lawsuit.
