Hearing to Focus on Reducing Nitrogen in Cape Cod Estuaries

Quisset Harbor

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting at 3:00 p.m. Sept. 12 at Falmouth Public Library to gather input on draft documents related to the need to limit and reduce nitrogen in the Wild Harbor, Fiddlers Cove-Rands Harbor and Quissett Harbor estuarine systems.

The restoration plans for these estuary systems, formulated by the department and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s School for Marine Science and Technology, are being proposed as part of a comprehensive project intended to improve estuarine water quality in 70 embayments along the Southeastern Massachusetts coastline.
