JUPITER MARINE BUILDS CUSTOM OUTBOARD FISHING BOATS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. PRESIDENT CARL HERNDON, HIS FAMILY AND HIS EXPERIENCED CREW HAVE SPENT A LOT OF YEARS TOGETHER, SHARPENING THE CUTTING EDGE OF COMPOSITE-BOAT CONSTRUCTION, FIRST THROUGH THEIR LEGENDARY BLACKFIN YACHTS, THEN AT BERTRAM, AND SINCE 1989 WITH JUPITER.
Their newest offshore-ready offering, the 32 Cuddy, blends hardcore fishing features with a comfortable cabin for weekend getaways, and should appeal mightily to Northeast boaters and anglers. Like her sister models, this rig runs on a deep-V hull laminated of biaxial and triaxial knitted cloth with vinylester resin in the skin coat. It features a solid-glass bottom and PVC-cored topsides, all supported by a stringer grid with bonded-in liner.
The 32 Cuddy’s cockpit and center console have the same basic features as the 32FS (Forward Seating) model, including a sturdy custom T-top, a 45-gallon transom live well, a sub-console head, deep gutters for water drainage, padded coaming and ample storage space for gear and fish.
The cuddy has a V-berth (which converts to a dinette), a refrigerator and teak joinerwork. Add optional air conditioning ($6,880 for 110v. shorepower), a microwave ($695 for 12v. DC), and a 15″ flat-screen TV with DVD ($1,950 for 12v. DC) for comfortable cruising. Like the 32FS, the Cuddy includes a standard electric head in the console.
Beyond the basics, Jupiter offers a 60-item options list, ranging from custom hull colors to live wells, tackle stations, wiring for electric reels, and outriggers. For owners who have additional ideas, the company stands ready to craft special gear. Meanwhile, the 32 is light enough to perform well and run efficiently with a pair of 300-hp Yamaha V-6 Offshore 4-strokes, cruising easily in the low 30s at about 1.5 mpg and topping out in the low 50s.
