Legal Battle Arises Over Ferry Dockage on Block Island
September 27, 2015
A ruling handed down by the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, in which the Town of New Shoreham asserted that Rhode Island Fast Ferry’s plan to dock the RIFF in Old Harbor is “spurious,” has given the Town until November 16, 2015, to make its case that the fast ferry has no legitimate dockage location on the island, according to an article on BlockIslandTimes.com.
The legal action between the Town of New Shoreham and Charles Donadio, Jr.’s RIFF over dockage space at Old Harbor for a fast-ferry service from Quonset Point was sparked by RIFF”s assertion that it had acquired dockage at Old Harbor when it signed a 10-year lease agreement with Paul Filippi’s Bluewater LLC on Friday, September 11, 2015.
