Legal Troubles for Cargo Ship in New Bedford

A cargo ship is temporarily marooned in Massachusetts’ New Bedford Harbor while officials sort out legal problems stemming from damage it suffered in rough seas, according to an article on SouthCoastToday.com.

The cargo ship Crown Opal was reportedly was reportedly carrying a shipment of clementines when it encountered rough seas, causing the cargo to shift. Both the ship and its cargo suffered damage. The company that hired the ship has alleged in federal court in Boston that the shippers failed to properly secure the cargo.

The ship had been docked at State Pier before it was moved and anchored in Buzzards Bay.
