Lobster Boat Legends to Speak in Hull, MA
June 23, 2013
Joe and Jamie Lowell of the famous Lowell family of Downeast Maine boatbuilders will speak at the Hull Lifesaving Museum on Wednesday, June 26, at 7:00 p.m.
Joe and Jamie are the 4th generation to follow in the footsteps of William Frost, a primary originator of the Northeast workboat, commonly called a lobster boat.
Today, Jamie and Joe continue to run Even Keel Marine in Yarmouth, Maine, as a custom boatyard like those of their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. They design new boats, build one-off fiberglass, wood, or cold-molded boats, finish-out kit boats, and do repairs and storage. They have also established a line of fiberglass Lowell hulls, available as kits or as completed boats.
