Long-Distance Rower Ends Transatlantic Quest

The Cape Cod Times reports that British long-distance rower Sarah Outen, who had been at sea 143 days after leaving Chatham, MA, in May, has abandoned her boat due to weather concerns. Outen was a little less than a 1,000 miles due west of Spain and had completed over 2,000 miles of the voyage from Chatham when she was picked up by a freighter on Saturday morning, Oct. 3.
