Lowrance’s Award-Winning Fishfinder/Plotter
July 28, 2010
Lowrance’s new, affordable ($549) Elite-5 DSI high-resolution fishfinder/plotter with DownScan Imaging (DSI) was awarded Best Electronics at the recent International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) show in Las Vegas.
The Elite-5 was honored for its intuitive controls, crisp color display, auto fishfinder modes, and down-looking sonar, which provides remarkably detailed images of the bottom directly below the boat. The Elite-5 DSI comes with a transom-mount imaging transducer with built-in temp gauge. The transducer operates at 455 kHz for wider, deeper coverage, or 800 kHz for concentrated scans of the bottom in shallower water. The Elite-5’s housing is waterproof, rugged and compact, making it ideal for open-weather mounting on smaller boats. The plotter features a 16-channel WAAS antenna and memory for 3,000 waypoints, 100 routes, and 100 retraceable trails with 10,000 points per trail. The DSI series also includes a fishfinder-only model.
