Lyman-Morse Building Round-the-World Sailboat
February 29, 2012
Portland Press Herald: Adventurer Stanley Paris today [February 22] showed off the progress on Kiwi Spirit, the vessel in which he hopes to break the record set by Maine sailor Dodge Morgan for a solo nonstop sail around the globe.
Paris, founder of St. Augustine University in Florida, is having the 63’ sailboat made at Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding [in Maine]. The boat is currently in 3 sections—the hull, the deck and the interior. It’s being built with high-tech materials, including carbon fiber. It’s scheduled to be launched in August.
