The Massachusetts Departments of Public Health and Fish and Game’s Division of Marine Fisheries have ordered a precautionary closure of oyster beds in Duxbury Bay, Kingston Bay, Bluefish River, Back River, and Plymouth Harbor for seven days, beginning Thursday, September 24, 2015, according to an article on PatriotLedger.com.

This precautionary closure is due to five confirmed cases of gastro-intestinal illness linked to the consumption of raw oysters from the area, and the presence of environmental conditions in the area conducive to the growth of vibrio bacteria in harvested oysters.
