MA Fisherman Busted for Illegal Surf Clams

On Friday, April 28, 2017, members of the Massachusetts Environmental Police conducted a marine fisheries inspection on a New Bedford commercial fishing vessel targeting surf clams in state waters.
The vessel off-loaded 12 cages of surf clams, the majority of which was determined to be under the legal size limit of 5”. All 12 cages were seized and the operator of the vessel was issued a summons to appear in court.
