MA PSA Campaign Warns of Riptide Dangers

Newburyport News: If you want to survive, swim to the side. That’s one piece of the message a group of local water safety experts and city officials are trying to get across through a series of public service announcements aimed at teaching local kids and others about the dangers that sometimes lurk in local waters.

The drowning last year of a young woman swimming off Plum Island Point coupled with the drowning this season off Hampton Beach of a 12-year-old from Lawrence stand as reminders of what can happen when Mother Nature does something unexpected.
