Maine Introduces Easy Fishing Regulations App
May 29, 2019
Open-water fishing season is underway in Maine, and to keep track of the state’s sometimes confusing list of regulations, the Maine Division of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife has developed the Maine’s Fishing Laws Online Angling Tool (FLOAT). The online map-based tool can be accessed from a computer or smartphone, and allows the user to access to fishing regulations for the selected pond, lake, river, or stream.
With the online angling tool, anglers can quickly locate a body of water, determine the fishing regulations, download a PDF of those regulations, and even identify the angler’s location with a GPS-enabled phone.
The map-based program shows waters with general fishing laws as blue on the map, while waters with special fishing regulations appear in red. For more information on the special regulations, click on the red area and the regulations will appear.
To download, visit the online angling tool on any desktop or mobile web browser.
