Maine Man Building Freighter Canoe in Garage

The Bangor Daily News reports on registered Maine Guide Andre Landry of Fort Kent, Maine, who is building a traditional “freighter canoe” in his garage.

The canoe is described as a 20’ square-sterned canoe based on the designs used long ago to transport trade goods, food and other cargo across the frontier.

When complete, the freighter canoe will be 50” wide at its beam and sport a 27”-wide transom.
