Manmade Dunes Installed at Stratford Point, CT

The Connecticut Audubon Society has completed the installation of manmade beach dunes meant to halt erosion and create a habitat for endangered and threatened shore birds at Stratford Point.

“This has never been done before on Long Island Sound,” said Tom Anderson, communications director for the Connecticut Audubon Society. “Everybody who goes to the beach knows what beach dunes are, but you never really hear of anybody creating them.”
