November 4, 2014
Researchers from Stony Brook University and The Nature Conservancy have released a map that depicts the location and breadth of water-quality problems on Long Island.
The map was produced with data taken from water samples around Long Island over the past summer (2014). It show areas where brown tide, red tide, rust tide, hypoxia (low oxygen), toxic blue-green algae and shellfish poisoning occurred.
