Marblehead High Gets Powerful Teaching Tool

The Salem News reports on the donation of a Caterpillar diesel to the Marblehead High School marine technology program, designed to train students for jobs in the marine industry. Here’s an excerpt:
Marblehead High School’s marine technology teacher John Payne used some of his contacts in the business (where he worked for more than 30 years) to obtain the donation of a state-of-the-art, high-tech Caterpillar 450-horsepower diesel engine costing up to $60,000.
“It’s the latest and greatest, and it’s going to be a teaching aid,” he said after it was delivered yesterday to Marblehead High. And he’s already had it running. “It sounded awesome. Great.”
