The Cape Cod Times reports that selectmen in the town of Buzzards Bay, MA, have voted to begin charging the National Marine Life Center for its sewer connection.

The sewer fee for the non-profit group, which treats cold-stunned sea turtles and injured marine mammals, has been waived since the late 1990s.

Kathy Zagzebski, executive director of the Center, says that the annual $734 fee could make the “difference between us staying open and closing our doors.”
