Martha’s Vineyard Schooner Shenandoah Changes Hands

Ownership of the well-known 108-foot schooner Shenandoah, which has graced Vineyard Haven Harbor for 56 years, is being passed from its designer and longtime captain Robert Douglas, 88, to a non-profit maritime-education organization called FUEL, headed by veteran Shenandoah shipmates Ian Ridgeway and Casey Blum.

FUEL will officially take ownership of the schooner when it reaches its $500,000 fundraising threshold (the group has already raised approximately $350,000, according to the Vineyard Gazette).
