Mianus River Herring Run Takes Off

Greenwich Time: Last weekend’s rain not only helped water a dry earth, it also sparked a massive 1-day rush by river herring through the fishway at the Mianus River dam [in Connecticut].

“There were so many fish that they were falling out of the chute, Michael Aurelia said about the scene last Monday as 46,000 herring fought to make their way over the dam so they could begin spawning in the Mianus Pond.
