On Wednesday, May 27, the Coast Guard and search-and-rescue personnel in Marblehead, Salem, Beverly and Manchester searched for a male boater who was reported overdue. The unidentified boater launched from Marblehead at around 4:30 p.m. When he failed to return by 8:42 p.m. or respond to cell phone calls (the phone was discovered to have been left in a boathouse), relatives notified the Coast Guard, which dispatched a vessel and a helicopter to search for the boater. The missing boater eventually was located at Gashouse Beach after coming ashore at 9:29 p.m. There were no reports of injuries.
