Morgan Visit Boosts New Bedford Shops

SouthCoastToday.com: Expected to generate some $2.5 million in spending during its stay in the Whaling City, the Charles W. Morgan is a boon for some downtown [New Bedford, Massachusetts] businesses.
“The Morgan is here, and people are seeing the beauty that we have,” said Cheryl Moniz of the Arthur Moniz Gallery.
At the corner of William Street and Johnny Cake Hill, the gallery is striking while the iron of the Morgan is hot. Various prints and originals of the ship have sold in recent days — one depicting the Morgan’s return fetched $50,000 at auction during the ship’s homecoming gala on Saturday.
