The Cape Cod and Islands public radio station WCAI recently ran an interview with maritime historians discussing the whaleship Charles W. Morgan.

The Charles W. Morgan is the last of an American whaling fleet that at one time numbered more than 2,700 vessels. Built and launched in 1841, the Morgan is now America’s oldest commercial ship still afloat — only the USS Constitution is older. Recently she departed Connecticut’s Mystic Seaport to begin her 38th voyage.

WCAI discussed the voyage, the ship’s history, and its recent renovation with Matthew Stackpole, historian at Mystic Seaport, and Nathanial Philbrick, historian and author.
