Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, CT, has announced that it has plans to build a 27-room boutique hotel and restaurant on the site of its Latitude 41 restaurant.

Plans also include the expansion of the museum’s Collections Research Center which would allow it to exhibit more of the 460 boats in its collection.

Further, the Seaport will construct an underwater research and education center, create interactive, hands-on displays in a museum building, and build a 20-foot-deep tank to test its underwater vehicles and robots as part of its Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration.

The Seaport’s master plan will be submitted to the Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission, and a public hearing will be held at a later date.
