Hingham, MA, resident, entrepreneur and adventurer Doug Hase has reintroduced the Nantucket Skiff, a rugged, simple 17’ vessel with classic lines and a lapstrake-style hull. The first Nantucket Skiff was built 32 years ago, but continues to serve as a versatile work and pleasure boat for fishing, family beach trips, watersports and other adventures.
The “new” Nantucket Skiff is built of modern composite materials and features a V-stepped hull that delivers a smooth, efficient ride. Rigged with a 60-hp outboard, the skiff is fast enough to pull waterskiers, and its 9” draft allows access to shallow water. Fuel burn is around 1.3 gallons per hour at a 23-knot cruise. At 900 pounds, the boat can be easily trailered and launched at virtually any ramp.
Standard features include a self-bailing cockpit, bilge pump, fuel tank with gauge, battery switch, teak trim with Cetol finish, wood steering wheel, running lights, cleats, rod holders, foot wells, nonskid deck and under-seat storage.
Committed to his community, Hase donates $250 of each boat sold to Friends of Hingham Harbor, an organization dedicated to making the waterfront a treasured destination.
