Navy Awards Contract to Repair Damaged Sub

Portland Press Herald: The U.S. Navy has awarded a $94 million contract for planning and material efforts for the repair of a submarine that was severely damaged by fire [at the Navy base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire].

The Naval Sea Systems Command said Friday [September 14] it awarded the contract to a team led by General Dynamics Electric Boat to provide design and planning, repair material ordering, and pre-fabrication to restore the USS Miami. The contract includes an option worth $6 million more.
