Robalo Boats has gone retro with its R160, an able and affordable skiff. While thoroughly modern in materials and construction, the R160 harks back to the late 1960s, when Aquasport, Boston Whaler and Mako introduced top-quality center console skiffs that were easy to tow, launch and run with tiny fuel bills, and great for fishing and family fun in bays and near-coastal waters.
Power choices are Yamaha T50, F70, and F90 4-strokes. Base “no haggle” pricing with a T50 and an aluminum trailer is $19,975, but the F70 should be the sweetest engine for good balance and all-around use. Figure on $25,000 with that engine and several useful options like console and helm-seat covers, a Garmin chartplotter/sounder, a compass and a spare tire kit for the trailer.
