New England Boating TV: Nantucket, MA
March 10, 2015
In this episode of New England Boating TV, co-hosts Parker Kelley and Tom Richardson visit the storied island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. This low-lying island off Cape Cod has seen a lot of changes over the last 300 years, and today it serves as a bustling summer boating and vacation destination—as you’ll see in this action-packed show.
Tom and Parker get things started by launching their Boston Whaler 250 Outrage at the Bass River ramp in Yarmouth then making the 18-mile run across a calm Nantucket Sound. After arriving, they get a detailed harbor tour from George Bassett, then-dockmaster at the Nantucket Boast Basin. Bassett explains how to safely navigate the main channel and how to get around the busy inner harbor.
Later in the show, Capt. Bob Decosta of the charter boat Albacore take Tom and Parker to the waters off Sconset Light for a bit of striper fishing.
Also on the hit list is a visit to the Cisco Brewery, a harborside feast at the Brant Point Grill, a sunset cruise in a Hinckley picnic boat, a trip to one of Nantucket’s amazing beaches, and a look at the beautiful and historic downtown area. By the end of the show you’ll see why Nantucket is a must-visit boating destination.
