New England Boating TV: Mattituck, NY
November 24, 2014
In this episode of NEBO TV, co-hosts Parker Kelley and Tom Richardson visit the Long Island village of Mattituck, a great daytrip or weekend destination for Connecticut boaters. After launching their Pursuit C 260, Parker and Tom set off from the town of Westbrook and head across Long Island Sound to Strong’s Waterclub on Mattituck Creek.
After settling in at the Cedar House on Sound B&B, the crew begins their adventure in this peaceful part of eastern Long Island’s wine country. Along the way, Parker and Tom fish with outdoor writer Tom Schlichter, who scores a fluke inside the creek—along with a pair of nasty “hackleheads.”
Parker and Tom also visit Strong’s Marine Bayside location, on James Creek and beautiful Peconic Bay. Here, they explore a bit of the area on standup paddleboards, and Parker gets a demonstration of wake-surfing courtesy of some local pros on Peconic Bay.
Parker also presents a look at Love Lane, home to several interesting shops and restaurants. And speaking of food, you don’t want to miss the cooking segment and waterside dining at the Waterclub’s popular onsite restaurant, Pace’s Dockside.
Also featured is a tour of the award-winning Macari Vineyards winery, as well as a look at beautiful Mattituck Creek.
