Greenwich Citizen: Susan Ryan of Old Greenwich, Connecticut, recently was sworn in as the first woman from Greenwich to be named Commander of District 2 of the U.S. Power Squadrons.

The USPS is the world’s largest private and nonprofit boating organization, with a mission, says Commander Ryan, of offering “community service, continuing education and the friendship and camaraderie of fellow members.”

Ryan, who has served 2 years as Commander of the Greenwich Sail and Power Squadron, will now be responsible for all 16 squadrons of her district, which includes Lake Champlain, Lake George, Sacandaga, the Hudson River areas of New York and the western ends of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
