New Product Repels Invasive Mussels
June 3, 2014
PRWeb.com reports that after months of testing in a variety of conditions, 060bio, LLC, has announced that the company has created an effective solution to thwart invasive zebra and quagga mussels, which can clog intake lines, foul motors, infest lakes, rivers and ponds and ruin beaches. Millions of dollars are spent each year trying to deal with the problem.
The company’s patent-pending, anti-mussel technology has taken the form of a product called the “Dock Disk”. The foam-rubber 7.5″ diameter disk is easy to use and is designed to serve the boating community. One simply hangs the Dock Disks around the border of a slip or dock and a mussel-free zone is established.
Depending upon prevailing conditions, a user can expect each Dock Disk to have an effective radius of 8’ to 10’ and should last up to 8 months.
According to the company, Dock Disk is not a poison, a pesticide or an electrical device, and will not harm other species. The anti-mussel technology’s active ingredient is said to be non-toxic and environmentally safe for flora and fauna, and it meets US EPA and US FDA standards for potable water. In addition, it passes ANSI/NSF Standard 42 regulations for drinking water system components.
