New Stuff: Hobie MirageDrive 180

Hobie’s new patent-pending MirageDrive 180 forward-reverse propulsion system solves a major drawback to the traditional pedal-driven MirageDrive system: the ability to reverse direction.

2016-studio-md180-side-profile_960_web_png_700x700__generatedWeighing under 8 pounds, the MirageDrive 180 produces full power in both forward and reverse, and offers unprecedented maneuverability. The user can pull one of two shift cables to direct propulsion 180 degrees almost instantly from forward to reverse and back again.

The new system will allow anglers to back away from fish-holding cover; safely fish closer to obstructions, or fish downstream while holding steady in current. Hands-free propulsion in any direction means better control to cast, present baits, and concentrate on landing bigger fish.

The MirageDrive 180 will be offered as standard equipment on all 2017 Hobie Mirage kayaks.
