New Stuff-Penn Clash Spinning Reel
February 17, 2016
The new Penn Clash spinning reel is a lightweight, technical spinning reel designed for shallow saltwater fishing with artificials or live bait. Boasting a computer-controlled, CNC-designed gear system, the Clash’s precision aluminum/brass main gear and brass pinion gear are machined for exact tolerances to provide smooth, reliable operation.
The Clash series reels also feature full-metal aluminum bodies and sideplates, while 8-plus-1 sealed ball bearings increase durability. The smaller models in the series feature Techno-Balanced RR30 carbon rotors, while the larger reels feature aluminum rotors. All models have a heavy-duty aluminum bail. The new Leveline slow-oscillation retrieve system produces tight, even line lay for improved casting and reduced tangles.
A sealed HT-100 drag system delivers smooth performance and features an innovative “wave” spring that provides more drag when compared to conventional coil springs. The skirted spool is designed to handle braided line, and features line-capacity rings to keep the angler informed of the amount of line remaining on the spool.
Seven Clash models are available, from the 8.2-ounce 2000 to the 27.2-ounce 8000.
Prices start at $180
