North-South Rivers Dredging Project Begins

Scituate and Marshfield, MA, boaters will be happy to know that a $1 million dredging project that has started at the confluence of the North and South Rivers. The area was last dredged in 2006.

With a current mean low water depth of just 1.5 feet, the area was becoming unavigable to some South River boaters at low tide.

The dredging project is expected to remove about 15,000 cubic yards of sediment from the entrance to the South River annd deepen the channel to about 7 feet.
