CTPost.com: Grab your paddle and get ready to explore the Sound. Two local nonprofit organizations—the Westport Historical Society (WHS) and the Friends of Norwalk Islands—will each host kayak paddles to different parts of the Norwalk Islands this weekend.

On Saturday, August 20, WHS will lead a 2 1/2-hour trip to Cockenoe Island, located approximately 1 mile off Seymour Point in Westport. Owned by the town of Westport, the island is known for birds and wildlife, crabbing and shell fishing and trails. Historian Allen Raymond will lead a tour of the island.

On Sunday, August 21, the Friends of the Norwalk Islands, in conjunction with the Small Boat Shop, will host a Cook-Out Kayak Paddle to the Norwalk Islands.
