Norwalk Marine Patrol Reports Busy Weekend

RESCUED

The Hour reports that Norwalk Marine Police were called on to rescue boaters in 3 separate incidents over the weekend.

On Saturday, marine officers on a routine patrol off Greens Ledge Light heard a man calling for help. They found the operator of a sailboat in the water in obvious distress with a large gash to his head after apparently being knocked overboard by his boom. The boater was not wearing a life jacket and needed to be rescued by officer Richard Delallo, who dove into the water and brought the man to the police boat.

On Sunday morning, a dozen people aboard a pleasure boat boat were rescued by marine police after high winds blew their boat onto Shea Island. No injuries were reported.

On Sunday afternoon, police rescued 2 kayakers from the area of Betts Island. The kayakers ran into difficulty due to high winds.
