Norwalk Paddleboarder Rescued by Boater

RESCUED

On Thursday afternoon, August 11, a paddleboarder who found himself battling high winds and choppy seas in Norwalk Harbor due to a powerful thunderstorm was rescued by the caretaker of Tavern Island.

Bob Raidt of Darien, was hoping to sneak in a paddle to Little Tavern Island at around 6:15, but found himself trapped on the island by the storm. After waiting for 2 hours for the slow-moving storm to pass, he decided to paddle for the mainland.

When Raidt was about a half-mile from the island, Mike Hart, the caretaker of Tavern Island, arrived in a small boat and offered to transport him to shore.
