Officials Begin Shark Tagging on Cape Cod
June 18, 2015
The first shark tagging trip of the summer is set to get underway on Cape Cod as state Division of Marine Fisheries shark scientist Gregory Skomal plans to head out to see if he can duplicate the success of last season, according to an article on CapeCodTimes.com.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy pays for boat time and tags with money from donations and fundraising events. Skomal and fellow shark scientist John Chisholm identified nearly 70 new great white sharks using video and 12 more that they identified by the acoustic signal from tags from prior years.
