Old Town Canoes & Kayaks has launched a new generation of personal watercraft called the NEXT. The NEXT combines the comfort and solo-paddling performance of a kayak with the convenience, stability and load-carrying capacity of a canoe.
Available in a host of bold colors, the NEXT sports clean lines and is built using a 3-layer polyethylene technique that allows it to withstand bumps, dings and other abuse.
At 49 pounds, the NEXT is easy for one person to handle, making car-topping and portaging a breeze. On the water, the boat’s pronounced tumblehome design reduces the amount of reach required when paddling, improving efficiency for 2-blade and traditional single-blade paddlers. Meanwhile, the low profile of the NEXT allows it to sit low to the water, reducing windage. Old Town engineers also crafted the hull to include a subtle rocker that provides straight, smooth tracking.
Built for all-day comfort, the Element seat rests in an adjustable track designed to slide smoothly forward and back 6”, allowing the paddler to maintain trim when carrying kids, pets or gear. The NEXT also features adjustable, contoured Glide Track foot braces with an intuitive, easy-to-reach adjustment system and position indicators for a quick custom fit.
