Onset, MA, Dock Expansion Proposals Spark Protest
December 5, 2011
According to Wareham Week, both the Point Independence Yacht Club and the Onset Bay Marina are seeking to expand their docks on Onset Bay, Massachusetts.
The proposed expansions would increase the number of yacht club slips from 65 to 75, and reduce the number of moorings from 57 to 41. The club wants to build a new gas dock as well.
The marina is seeking to expand its dock by 174’ to create 29 new slips and reduce its moorings by 15.
Both proposals met with protest by local residents at a recent hearing held by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Most of those opposed voiced concern over the already crowded conditions in the bay.
