Oyster Harbors Marine Delivers Custom Touch
November 13, 2013
Oyster Harbors Marine may be “only” 26 years old, but its origins, headquarters, and boatyard in Osterville, Massachusetts, go back over a century—and some of the same families who kept boats there in 1900 are still customers today. That fact points to the yard’s greatest strength: Its managers, brokers, technicians, and craftsmen are very good at listening to their customers and building cordial, lasting relationships with them.
The yard is a full-service facility and dealership representing 7 brands of new boats (Viking, Cabo, Tiara, Blue Star, Jupiter, Regulator, Limestone) with models from 17’ to over 80’, as well as brokerage for well-maintained pre-owned boats. Oyster Harbors also offers skillful maintenance and storage, and provides slips in season. Look closely at the boats in those slips and you’ll notice that virtually every one of them shows off at least one unique characteristic—custom aftermarket features. Arguably the greatest strength of Oyster Harbors Marine is its ability to provide a wide range of distinctive custom touches that fit their customers’ individual needs.
“Over the years,” says Oyster Harbors’ Vice-President Peter Maryott, “we’ve done a lot of things for our customers—paint, teak work, engine maintenance and repowers, fiberglass repairs, towers and tops, cushions, and canvas—so we know what works, but we don’t necessarily still do all of those things ourselves. For example, we don’t paint any more, but we have a friend nearby who does great work and whom we can trust with our customers’ boats.
“On the other hand,” he continued, “we have people here in our yard who are very good at tasks such as installing bow thrusters and fitting through-the-stem anchor windlasses with great precision. In fact, we operate like a residential general contractor who has good framing and finish carpenters on staff, but who calls in skillful subs for excavation and plumbing.”
If a picture is worth a thousand words, below are some more images that illustrate the custom capabilities of Oyster Harbors Marine and its friends.
