Plymouth Boat Yard, the 73-year-old boat repair and storage facility in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is under new management. John “JB” Bernier and Stephen “Capt. Steve” Lawrence, owner/partners at North Atlantic Marine Services LLC, are now in charge of operations, and will introduce themselves to the Plymouth Boat Yard community at an open house this Saturday, September 24, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served.

“This arrangement is going to give our customers access to more services, and it’s good for us at Plymouth Boat Yard,” explains Todd Jesse, whose grandfather founded the business in 1938. “Plymouth Boat Yard is not going away; we will still handle commercial boats.” Jesse says the yard currently has about 100 recreational customers.

“We’re really excited,” adds Bernier. “Managing operations at Plymouth Boat Yard is going to expand our business and allow us to take care of customers from a waterfront property. We’ll be kicking our services up a notch because Plymouth Boat Yard has the facility and equipment that will allow us service larger boats.

Operating in Wareham, Massachusetts, for the past 3 years, North Atlantic Marine’s presence at Plymouth Boat Yard will expand the company’s market, both in terms of the size of boats it can service and in terms of the boating areas it serves.

“This move puts North Atlantic Marine Services on the map as a Cape Cod Bay operation as well as a Buzzards Bay repair and service facility,” says Lawrence. “Having operations at Plymouth Boat Yard doubles and triples the size of the boats that we can handle. North Atlantic Marine Services is now in a position to better serve our customers, whether they are small trailerboats or 45’ luxury sports fishing boats. We can service, repair and upgrade any of those systems.”

The other attraction for North Atlantic Marine is it fits well with their Marine Technical Education programs offered through the Association of Marine Technicians (AMTECH). “We can offer hands on, skills based technical training in a true marine environment” Bernier stated.
