Police Searching for Woman in Hamblin Pond, Marston Mills
August 21, 2014
CapeCodOnline: Police and fire personnel are searching Hamblin Pond and the surrounding area after a caller reported at around 11 a.m. there were women’s clothes on the beach but no swimmer.
There have been no reports of a missing person or of anybody in the water, but the abandoned clothing “is unusual,” said Barnstable police Sgt. Michael Riley. There was a half-full nip bottle next to the pile of women’s clothes.
“We were concerned someone might have been swimming impaired,” Riley said.
At around 2 p.m., a Massachusetts State Police helicopter arrived on the scene to survey the pond from about 100 feet above.
