The South Portland [Maine] Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department has received a $15,000 donation from Port Harbor Marine for the purchase and installation of an outdoor ice rink within Wainwright Farms Recreational Complex. The donation was acquired by the Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth , through the Soucy family, owners of Port Harbor Marine.

The rink will be used for events at Winterfest 2014, a new collaborative effort between the Rotary Club and the City of South Portland. In addition, the rink will be used for the enjoyment of all in the South Portland and surrounding communities throughout the winter months.

“As lifelong residents of South Portland, and having owned and operated a family business here for over 35 years, we felt the ice rink was a great way to give back to the city,” said Rob Soucy of Port Harbor Marine. “The ice rink will provide hours of family fun to the residents of the communities we serve, as well as the families of several of our employees who live here in South Portland.”

The donation is the single largest donation the Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth has received in its history.
