Profile of Norwalk Islands Keeper
July 19, 2012
TheHour.com: From his porch on Chimon Island, Vincent Farrell can hear the waves crash on shore and watch the birds soar above. But the sights and sounds are just about the only luxuries of his summertime stay on the island.
As head island keeper, Farrell spends 5 days a week living inside a small cabin with no running water. He uses a propane grill to prepare his meals and a tiny generator provides a few hours of daily electricity.
It’s hardly what most would consider “island living,” but Farrell, 23, couldn’t be happier.
