Provincetown Coast Guard Receives New Boat
April 9, 2013
Coast Guard Station Provincetown, Massachusetts, received a new 29’ response boat on Monday, April 8, 2013.
The 29’ RB-S II is a high-speed, multifunction, shallow-water boat designed to operate along coastal borders across the Coast Guard’s full mission spectrum, including search and rescue, boarding-team deployment, law enforcement and environmental response operations.
Designed gradually to replace the Defender-class RB-S as it reaches the end of its service life, the boat is 4’ longer than its predecessor with an emphasis on function and crew comfort. The RB-S II is powered by twin 225-hp outboards that provide a top speed of over 45 knots and a range of 150 nautical miles.
