Cape Cod Online reports that 3 more dolphins were reported stranded in Wellfleet on Tuesday afternoon [March 6], bringing the total number of strandings this winter to 182—a new record.

Of those, 108 dolphins were found dead. Of the 71 found alive, 53 were successfully returned to the ocean. Biologists still do not have a definitive reason for the high number of strandings.
